Scott City

Scott City wasn’t incorporated until 1980, prior to this time it was known as Illmo- a combination of Illinois and Missouri because the community was close to both.  Illmo was incorporated in 1905 and was created to support the Frisco railroad hub.  The bridge built across the Mississippi River was constructed in 1905 as well, thus the name Illmo.

Scott City is now home to more than 4900 residents within 4.6 square miles.  It largest point of interest is the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority.  It is located on the Mississippi River and offers slackwater harbor, public terminals,  interstate highway access,  switching railroad and much more.  It was established in 1975.

Because Scott City is only a few miles from Cape Girardeau it’s residents can enjoy established medical facilities, shopping, and plenty of leisure activities the city has to offer.
